About Me

Hello! My name is Alex and I’ve had the pleasure of sharing things on the internet for a number of years. My experience starts at a small secondary school in South Yorkshire where I made a small website to host flash games – turns out creating a games website to bypass the school filters impressed my teachers more than it annoyed them!

Since then, I’ve grown my skillset and worked in a number of different areas. I spent my time as a graduate developer at a marketing agency, grew my skills as a mid-level developer at a different digital marketing agency and flexed my software testing skills at a huge corporation. Recently, I have been focusing on freelance work and travelling – essentially attempting to live the digital nomad dream!

My most recent launch was creating a straightforward ecommerce website for a local record shop.

This website was build using WordPress, WooCommerce and Elementor, client needed a method of selling their products online, with ties to their social media pages

Client built the site on their own in Wix, but the site required some final polish and SEO in order to make the website responsive and rank with Google

Bespoke website built during my time at Red Route Agency for external client, Hadron Engineering. Created as a WordPress website, build was based off of a custom design. I used custom functions in order to overcome WordPress limitations and the ACF plugin to fetch and present personalised information

Discogs to WooCommerce

A WordPress plugin that allows the import of a Discog user's shop inventory to WooCommerce products

Deckheads App

A quick test at creating a web app that integrates with the Mixcloud API. The goal was to fetch information and DJ mixes from a Mixcloud account and create a mini custom player.

IBCC Museum Exhibit

An interactive museum exhibit. Built by request of the International Bomber Command Centre. Participants each adopt the role of a crew member of a bomber during WW2, with key targets and individual roles.

LS App

An online application built using Laravel, LS App serves as an example of the power of Laravel as a content management system, as well as my abilities to utilise Laravel to build a functioning application.
